Port number for Spotlight client

I am trying to figure out which port number I need to use for letting a Spotlight client (not the server being monitored, but the server from where the Spotlight console can be accessed) communicate with the Spotlight diagnostic server.

I see the below information in the url http://help.spotlightessentials.com/enterprise_backend_networkports.html#tcp-40403. But, I can't figure out the difference between them below. If I need to use Spotlight console on my laptop, what port needs to be open on the diagnostic server?

TCP 3843

This port is used by the Spotlight Client to communicate with the Spotlight Diagnostic Server. This port must be open for incoming connections on the Spotlight Diagnostic Server host.

TCP 40403

This port is used by the Spotlight Client to communicate with the Spotlight Diagnostic Server. This port must be open for incoming connections on the Spotlight Diagnostic Server host.

  • Hi,

To be exact these ports need to be opened to clear the communication between Spotlight Diagnostic Server and Spotlight client:

On the Spotlight Diagnostic Server host:
Create TCP Inbound Rule for ports: 3843,40403
Create TCP Outbound Rule for port: 40403

    On the Spotlight Client machine:
Create TCP Outbound Rule for ports: 3843,40403

    Hope that helps.

Thank you. We will get the appropriate rules created. One other clarification. By 'client', do you mean one of the below or both? Do the same rules apply in both cases?

    1. Server being monitored
    2. Server from where Spotlight console can be accessed from (ex: a DBA's laptop)

    Hi,
    Spotlight Client refers to:
    2. Server from where Spotlight console can be accessed from (ex: a DBA's laptop)

These ports don't apply to monitored servers.
