Custom reporter requirement: Parameter filter OR facility not just AND

We require a custom report so the "parameters" field contains the following:

"Domain Group: Managed By (Domain Group)

OR

"Domain Group: Info (Domain Group)"

As currently the report would run with an AND parameter. We have already requested this as a feature request via support who pointed us to this URL to ask for a customised report for the interm use.

Thanks,

Mo.

  • Yes, we can do a custom query report that would do that. What kind of report do you require? Is there some existing report that contains all that you need, except for the OR clause?
    Thank you,
    Yuri Zhuk
  • Hello Yuri,

The two reports where we need the OR clause for are the "Domain Groups" and "Domain Account" reports that sit under report library > Active Directory.

Hope this helps, if you need anything else please let me know.

    Many thanks,

    Mo.
  • Thank you for the details, we're on it. I'll reply here when it's ready.

    Best regards,
    Yuri
  • Hello Mohammed,

Here're the customized Domain Groups report with the ability to filter by [Managed By (Domain)] OR by [Info (Domain)] fields: www.quest.com/.../110

If the provided report suits your requirements, I'll provide you the customized version of "Domain Account" report on Monday.

    Best Regards,
    Ivan

  • Hello guys,

For some odd reason the reports do not work when I try to use them, I have set the domain name and used "*" for OU and domain groups, set the groupscope to include all results but even when I add the same username into the "who the group should be managed by?" and " OR which additional info should the group have?" I get the "report could not be generated. check the properties of the report and try again." error message.

This is also the case when I define the username with the domain name (domainname/user.name)

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Mo.
  • Hello Mohammed

What exact version of the ER do you use?
Does the report work correctly without filling the parameters or when filling them with '*' wildcards only?
Have you tried providing the "Managed By" or "Info" parameters as DOMAIN\User (using backslash as a separator) or a pattern like *UserName*?

    Regards
    Ivan
  • Hello Ivan,

We are running version 2.5.1 build 200.

Regardless of all the variables you have listed I cannot get the report to generate anything but the error message. Adding the "*" wildcards, leaving them blank, using DOMAIN\User and UserName just doesn't seem to work at all.

Interestingly when I click on the blue magnifying glass to search for entries to create the variables to run the report such as "Include the following organizational units" the report type appears to be "computer" with the "computer name" field. Infact this appears to be the case for every single section apart from the "include the following domains".

Could I be missing something as part of the install or is the report not compatible with the version we are running?

    Thanks again for your responses!

    Mo.
  • Hello Mo,

Sorry for misunderstanding, the provided reports are built for ER 2.6. I need some time to rebuild and retest them to fit ER 2.5.1

Will reply here as soon as the reports are ready.

    Thank you!
    Ivan
  • Hello Ivan,

Not a problem! I should have mentioned what version we are running. At least I can use the currently created reports when we migrate up to 2.6 in the future.

    Thanks,

    Mo.
